Becker Law Office is excited to announce the winners of the Distracted Driving Impact Awareness Scholarship. Our firm has awarded $1,000 to Emily Yadon from Louisville, Kentucky, and Sophia Klomparens from Arlington, Washington to help them pay for their continued education. Both Sophia and Emily shared impressive essay submissions that discussed the impact of distracted driving on different age groups. Below are both winners’ reactions to winning this scholarship.
“I am a senior chemical engineering student in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. I am very grateful that I have been chosen as the recipient of the Becker Law Office Local Distracted Driving Impact Awareness Scholarship. This scholarship will help me achieve my dreams of becoming a chemical engineer working in the power industry. Chemical engineering and clean energy are two of my greatest passions. I want to dedicate my career to helping the environment through working with pollution control systems and clean energy. One of the main ways that we can help the planet is to manage the way electricity is being produced so that we can limit the amount of harmful pollutants that get released into the atmosphere. Climate change is one of the biggest threats of our generation and I want to work to become part of the solution
Becker Law Office has given me the ability to follow my dreams through this wonderful scholarship opportunity. Being able to pay for college is very difficult, so this scholarship opportunity has greatly impacted my life. Knowing that the Becker Law Office has a scholarship for local residents of Kentucky really shows how they are dedicated to helping their community. I am so thankful that I was selected to receive this scholarship award and know that this scholarship opportunity will help me pursue my dreams of becoming a chemical engineer.”
“I am so excited to win Becker Law Office’s Distracted Driving Impact Awareness Scholarship! Researching for this essay allowed me to dig deeper into how distracted driving impacts people of different age groups in different ways. I learned a lot about the consequences of distracted driving on teens, adults, and the elderly, and definitely renewed my commitment to safe driving in the process.
I am a rising senior at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Latin. After graduation, I plan to teach English and possibly Latin at a private, classical school, as well as write novels for publication. This scholarship will be hugely beneficial in paying for my senior year, and I’m so grateful to Becker Law Office for giving me this opportunity.”
Our team is thrilled to support these two wonderful individuals, and we want to extend a big thank you to all of our applicants this year for sharing such impressive submissions. While we could only select two winners this year, we had many applications that made it hard to narrow it down to our finalists. We hope all applicants will consider applying for this scholarship in the future, as we love to support as many individuals as we can with their continued education.
The Becker Law Office started The Distracted Driving Impact Awareness Scholarship to give students the opportunity to share their insight into the impact that distracted driving can have on individuals of all ages.
