Ford continues to have trouble with its newer model SUVs. Ford just issued its fourth vehicle recall since July, this time over potential fuel line leaks involving the 2012 Edge. Nearly 5,500 Edge vehicles are being recalled and involve those 2012 Edge crossovers with 2.0 L EcoBoost engines. A manufacturing defect may cause a crack in the damper housing, which in turn could allow fuel to leak creating an engine fire hazard.
The affected vehicles were built between September 2, 2010 and October 31, 2011.
This is the fourth recall Ford has issued since July, the first involving the Edge and the other three concerning the 2013 Escape SUV. The first Escape recall concerned a braking interference issue caused by carpet padding, and two other recalls addressed potential engine fires, one involving faulty fuel lines and the other a coolant leak.

Ford dealers will repair the problem free of charge. The recall is scheduled to begin Monday, September 24th.
