About Julie Foster

Julie Foster is an accomplished attorney who has transitioned her career to Becker Law, bringing her extensive background in employment law, general liability, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and long-term care defense to her new role as a dedicated plaintiff's attorney. Leveraging her wealth of experience as a defense attorney, Julie is committed to serving her clients on the other side of the legal spectrum with unparalleled insight and expertise.

Having spent a significant portion of her career defending, Julie is well-equipped to anticipate and address the strategies employed by opposing counsel. Her background in insurance defense litigation, personal injury protection (PIP) benefits, property and casualty claims, automobile liability, premises liability, insurer bad faith, coverage issues, Special Investigative Unit (SIU) defense matters, and negligent security positions her as a formidable advocate for plaintiffs seeking justice in these areas.

With a portfolio that includes crafting more than 30 trial court and appellate briefs presented to both the Kentucky and U.S. Supreme Courts, Julie brings a unique perspective to her plaintiff cases, ensuring comprehensive and compelling representation. Her successful mediation of over 50 employment discrimination cases demonstrates her capacity to find resolutions through negotiation, benefiting her clients.

Julie's tenure as lead counsel in a high-profile Federal sex, disability discrimination and retaliation case against the largest employer in Louisville attests to her litigation skills and her ability to strategically navigate complex legal matters.

Her experience advising an insurance provider specializing in recovery services for nearly a decade has provided her with a deep understanding of employment and Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) issues, as well as FMLA, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Medicare, and Federal Employees Health Benefits Act (FEHBA) matters. Her oversight of over 200 subrogation cases and nationwide litigation management underscores her proficiency in handling intricate legal disputes.

Julie earned her Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1994 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centre College in Kentucky. Her prior work at well-known national and regional law firms and with the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet provided her with an invaluable foundation. During her time at the Cabinet, Julie actively supported the Department of Corrections in investigations involving Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints and discrimination suits. Her role as Assistant Vice President at a long-term care nursing and residential care provider showcased her ability to manage all aspects of litigation, investigation, discovery, and strategic decision-making in professional liability and employment claims.

Julie Foster's defense experience, combined with her commitment to justice, positions her as a strong and knowledgeable advocate for her clients at Becker Law.
