Safe Ride KY Announces Lyft Discounts, New Website To Prevent Impaired Driving On Independence Day
LOUISVILLE, KY “ The Safe Ride KY” coalition today announced that it is offering Kentuckians $10,000 worth of free rides to prevent impaired driving and complement the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety’s enforcement efforts during Independence Day.
Individuals can claim $10 in ride credits by downloading the Lyft app on their phones, entering promo code SAFERIDEKY4TH19, and ordering a safe ride home.
The credit will work for rides taken between 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, and 5 a.m. Friday, July 5, throughout Kentucky – wherever Lyft services are available, while supplies last.
“As the producers of America’s only native spirit, Kentucky’s Bourbon industry is proud to work with community partners to make sure America’s independence is enjoyed responsibly, said Eric Gregory, President of the Kentucky Distillers” Association (KDA).
The Safe Ride KY coalition is led by the KDA and sponsored by Lyft, the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, Becker Law Office, Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Kentucky, and AAA.
The non-profit group also unveiled a new website ” www.saferideky.org ” created by Lexington firm One Fold Creative. It contains educational information and allows individuals and businesses to donate to the effort or become a sponsor of the campaign.
“Individuals who have lost a friend or family member to impaired driving can now donate to Safe Ride KY’s education and prevention efforts in their loved ones honor,” said Ali Edelstein, the KDA’s Director of Social Responsibility.
The new website contains information about Kentucky Senate Bill 85, which passed the legislature this spring to provide DUI offenders access to effective alcohol monitoring and treatment options.
“People can visit the new website to learn the facts about impaired driving in our state,” said Jason Siwula, Acting Executive Director of Kentucky’s Office of Highway Safety. “By spreading the message about the impact of impaired driving, we hope to encourage more drivers to make the responsible choice of a sober ride home.”
This Independence Day will be Safe Ride KY’s ninth campaign. Together, the group has delivered more than 7,000 Kentuckians safely home for the holidays.
“Safe Ride KY sponsors know we can do more to prevent impaired driving by working together than by acting alone,” said Greg Bubalo, Managing Partner at Becker Law Office, who is a leading sponsor of the campaign. “We invite more people and businesses to join us.”
